Does an MOT check service history?
No. An MOT does not check service history. The tester does not require service records, dealer stamps, invoices or proof of maintenance to pass the vehicle.
The MOT is a roadworthiness and environmental inspection. It checks whether the car meets minimum legal standards on the day of the test.
Service history is separate. It helps show how well the car has been maintained over time, but it is not part of the MOT pass or fail decision.
