A pressure-control or fluid problem may initially allow the clutch to slip only occasionally. If driving continues, the friction material can overheat and wear away, contaminating the transmission and increasing the eventual repair cost.
Will a Slipping Automatic Gearbox Fail an MOT?
Internal automatic gearbox clutch slip is not itself tested as a standalone transmission-performance item during the MOT.
